(Tenzin Gyatso) (was born in 1935) – spiritual leader of the Buddhists. Laureate of the Nobel Peace Prize (1989) for persistent opposition to violence in the struggle for the liberation of Tibet from Chinese occupation. He was awarded the Gold Medal of the US Congress (2000).

(1889–1945) – German politician and statesman, Reich Chancellor (1933-1945), ideologue of National Socialism, leader of the National Socialist Workers' Party of Germany. Creator of one of the most famous images of world cinema – tramp Charlie, who appeared in short comedies in the 1910s. Director, screenwriter, producer and lead actor in the film “The Great Dictator” (1940) – political satire on Nazism and A. Hitler. He was nominated for an Oscar for his role as Fuhrer and Jewish hairdresser. After watching the film, Hitler declared Chaplin as his personal enemy.

  (1900–1986) – Japanese diplomat, vice consul of the Japanese empire in the Republic of Lithuania. During World War II, he issued Japanese transit visas to Polish and Lithuanian Jews, which allowed him to travel through the USSR to the Far East. Thanks to his activities, more than 6,000 Polish and Lithuanian Jews were rescued. In 1985, he received the honorary title of “Righteous Among the Nations”.

(1910–2008) – Polish activist of the Resistance movement, пduring World War II, she rescued 2,500 Jewish children from the Warsaw Ghetto. In 1965, she received the honorary title of “Righteous Among the Nations”.

(The seventh Lubavitcher rebbe) (1902–1994) – one of the most prominent Jewish figures of the twentieth century, the seventh rebbe. He focused his activities on spreading Jewish education among children of all ages. At his initiative, new yeshivas were opened in the United States, Canada, Australia, England, France, Israel and Russia. After the collapse of the USSR, he contributed to the restoration of CIS Jewish communities. Awarded the Gold Medal of the US Congress (1994, posthumously).

(1865–1944) – count, bishop of the Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church, Metropolitan of Halych and Archbishop of Lviv (1901–1944). (Anjezë Gonxhe Bojaxhiu) (1910–1997) – Catholic nun from Macedonia, founder of charitable missions. Laureate of the Nobel Peace Prize (1979). For more than forty years she has been helping the poor, sick and orphans in Kolkata (Calcutta) in India. She aided the starving in Ethiopia, the victims of the Chernobyl radiation, and the victims of the earthquake in Armenia. In 1991, she opened the Fraternal House of the Charity Mission in the Albanian capital, Tirana. Until 1996, she led 517 missions in more than 100 countries.

(1918–2013) – South African human rights activist, politician. President of the African National Congress (1991) and South Africa (1994–1999). (1912–1947) – Swedish diplomat. During World War II, he rescued the lives of tens of thousands of Hungarian Jews. Using his diplomatic status, he issued Jewish “protective passports” to Jews, which gave their holders the status of Swedish citizens awaiting repatriation. After the occupation of Budapest by the Red Army in January 1945, he was arrested and deported to Moscow. He died in a Soviet prison in 1947. In 1963, R.
