(The seventh Lubavitcher rebbe) (1902–1994) – one of the most prominent Jewish figures of the twentieth century, the seventh rebbe. He focused his activities on spreading Jewish education among children of all ages. At his initiative, new yeshivas were opened in the United States, Canada, Australia, England, France, Israel and Russia. After the collapse of the USSR, he contributed to the restoration of CIS Jewish communities. Awarded the Gold Medal of the US Congress (1994, posthumously).
